Meet the New Adventurers . . . Aging has never been more powerful

They are the young elders ages 50’s – 80’s who are creating new visionary roles for their future . . .

Forever we’ve watched elders give up as families plan what RETIREMENT HOME will be right for you – essentially, it’s your final act as you become invisible.

I don’t think humans were wired to live full abundant lives only to be preyed upon in later years to stress the horrific expense of being housed in an institution of compartmentalized spaces. It’s the dehumanization of the elder humanity.

Today, forward thinking elders are not giving in to what’s proper at their age. Instead, they are becoming elder adventurers who are forsaking frivolous activities like bingo at all-inclusive soulless resorts to wanting physical and intellectual challenges that deliver personal growth and transformative experiences such as psilocybin mushroom journey’s, making love on MDMA (even if it is by yourself), learning Tango, becoming an artist, writer or starting a blues band - anything that is creative and different.

An extensive study in the U.S. found that the most productive age in human life is between 60-70 years of age. The 2nd most productive stage is from 70 -80 years of age. The 3rd most productive stage is from 50 - 60. The average Nobel Prize winner is 62 years old. This tells us in a way that it has been determined that the best years of your life are between 60- and 80 years! Therefore, if you are between 60-70 - or 70- 80 you are in the Best and 2nd level of your life. . . . friends, this walk called life is just the beginning.

Middle-agers consciously pursuing wellbeing as a “mission” is huge! They are keeping themselves increasing healthy with the focus of maintaining exceptional health into their elder years.

With goals of getting off of SSRI’s, and other meds prescribed as mental Band-Aids, elders are pursuing a new type of wellness where fitness, healthy simple foods, better sleep, inner and outer beauty, emotional, mental and spiritual health are not achieved by a simple winter vacation. Instead, it’s a new everyday way of life.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is the epicenter

Maria Camille, (an elder) and long-time wellness/hospitality consultant and visionary coach who moved to San Miguel 3 years ago is seeing first-hand how this new thinking is taking shape as she provides private psilocybin therapy vision quest retreats for middle-agers.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico looks to be one of the best premiere birthing places for these creative young elders. It’s like a Blue Zone for not only health and longevity, but also for entrepreneurial endeavors for retirees up into their 80’s who pursue dreams of becoming artists, writers, chefs, or coaches. There are no limits put on agers here.

It starts with a Vision Quest . . .

Hosting both men and women, Maria has her guests write epic storyboards where they become a pilgrim in their own immersive story of how their movie of life plays out. The guest takes on the role of Executive Producer, which means they get to produce the role they want to play. Through casting themselves as heroes, a whole new type of thinking evolves. And, how the pursuit of determining what the last chapters of life will look like, it is nothing that is typically sought after.

Learning to Die before you Die . . .

One guest, Jeannine, a Registered Nurse for 30 years came to San Miguel to partake in a psilocybin therapy session to alleviate life-long depression and her years on meds, which did nothing to help her previously. What happened was not expected and completely changed her future as her journey gave the inspiration to start retreats and provide seminars to help others navigate the complexities of death and dying in new ways the medical industry is not offering.

Another soon to retire bookkeeper who came with a friend, just to try psilocybin therapy, had such a beautiful and profound experience that she is now pursuing more education to assist others (like Maria) who provide such retreats.

Cheryl, a retired teacher who waited 5 years to find someone who hosted private psilocybin retreats found Maria Camille in San Miguel. Her journey was life-changing as the psilocybin mushroom journey accommodated every desire she wrote in her special Letter to the Mushroom, which is part of the pre-journey process. She is also now inspiring others to create a new life path and reinvent their last chapters into more exciting pursuits.

Cuna del Cielo - retreat center in San Miguel de Allende

A New Type of Retreat Center

A journey to decide life change could not happen just anywhere . . . set, setting, intention, hosts and the retreat property itself are all important.

As a former consultant for destination resorts, Maria Camille knew what was needed as she searched for the best location in San Miguel to host the retreats. Cuna del Cielo, (https://www.cunadelcielo.com/) met the needs . . . a beautiful boutique retreat property overlooking San Miguel with views that are almost indescribable.

But, at the root of these experiences and retreat location, there must be empathy. Understanding the more profound, subconscious needs of someone and not just addressing the clear, expressed need, guests feel especially understood and catered to.

The ultimate goal is that no longer will the benefits of a weeks stay, seem to start when it’s time for you to leave.

And, getting old does not have to be a dead end . . .
